If a file fails to upload to a TitanFile channel, the fastest way to find the cause is a HAR file. It's a short recording of what your browser does during the upload, and it takes about 2 minutes to capture. You can send it to the person who invited you or to TitanFile Support at support@titanfile.com. From there, we can usually pinpoint where the connection breaks.
Step 1: Capture a HAR file (about 2 minutes)
Start the recording before you upload. Then let the upload fail.
Step 1: Capture a HAR file (about 2 minutes)
Start the recording before you upload. Then let the upload fail.
- Open the page where the upload fails.
- Press F12 to open developer tools. On Mac, press Cmd + Option + I.
- Click the Network tab and tick Preserve log.
- Try the upload again and let it fail.
- Right-click in the Network list and choose Save all as HAR with content.
- Send the saved file to the person who invited you, or to TitanFile Support.
Can't capture a HAR file? Let us know. We can arrange a short screenshare and capture it together.
Step 2: Send us these details
- A full-screen screenshot showing the web address and the exact error message
- The channel name or link, plus the date and time of the failure
- The file type and size, and whether it was a single file, a folder, or a ZIP
- Your operating system, browser, and network (office, VPN, or home)
Quick things to try while you wait (optional)
These are general suggestions. They help us narrow things down (but don't replace the HAR file).
- Check the channel. "Upload failed" sometimes appears even though the file arrived.
- Retry once. Then try a single file instead of a folder or ZIP.
- Identify whether the files are being uploaded from a network drive. If so, please try shifting the files to your desktop and uploading directly from there
- Shorten paths. Move folders from network drives to your Desktop, and shorten long folder and file names.
- Try another network or device. For example, use a phone hotspot or a different browser.
- Leave security software on. Don't disable antivirus or security tools unless your IT team approves.
From there, please tell us what you tried and what happened. Even "it still failed" helps.
