1. What is the Security Settings Page?
The Security Settings page allows administrators to define security controls that apply across the organization.
These settings help protect sensitive information, enforce compliance policies, and reduce risk by controlling how files can be shared and accessed.
2. How to Access the Security Settings Page
To reach the management dashboard:
- Log in to your TitanFile account
- Click Settings in the left-hand navigation menu
- Select Security Settings
3. What Can You Do Here?
From this page, you can configure organization-wide security controls, including:
4. How Security Settings Work (IMPORTANT SECTION)
Security Settings behave differently depending on the feature and your subscription type:
Restrict File Extensions (Applies to All Plans)
- This setting is enforced globally across the entire subscription
- Any restrictions configured here apply to all users and all channels
- There is no Manage Roles control for this feature
- Users cannot override these restrictions
Important:
- This is a hard enforcement setting designed to prevent restricted file types from being uploaded anywhere in the system
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
For Non-Enterprise Plans
- Settings are applied globally across the subscription
- When enabled, the setting applies to all users
- Users cannot override these settings
For Enterprise Plans
- Settings act as feature controls (similar to admin configurations)
When a setting is:
- Enabled → The feature becomes available and can be assigned to roles
- Disabled → The feature is not available anywhere in the system
Important:
- If a setting is disabled, it will not appear in Manage Roles
- To assign a feature to a custom role, it must first be enabled here
Best Practice
To fully control access and behavior:
- Use Restrict File Extensions for strict, organization-wide enforcement
- Use Two-Factor Authentication settings for flexible, role-based control
- Then assign 2FA requirements through Manage Roles (Enterprise only)
This allows you to balance security enforcement with operational flexibility.
5. Why This Matters
Security Settings help you:
- Prevent unauthorized or risky file uploads
- Enforce stronger authentication requirements
- Reduce security vulnerabilities across your organization
- Align with internal policies and regulatory requirements
