1. How do Passkeys work with TitanFile?
Users can sign in using biometrics (Touch ID, Windows Hello) or security keys, replacing passwords and 2FA codes. This is enabled by default for subscriptions except for requested exceptions and passkeys are self-managed via Profile settings. A "Use Passkey" button appears on the login page once registered.
(Important): Passkeys fulfill all authentication requirements, skipping the traditional 2FA step and is only available to licensed users within a subscription.
2. How to enable Passkeys on your User Profile.
To enable Passkeys for your account:
-
Navigate to your User Profile via the Profile option in top right hand corner.
-
Within user profile, locate and click "Add Passkey" and add the name of the device you are adding linked to your passkey.
-
You will be given the choice between where to save your passkey.
-
Once your passkey is saved, you can verify that it is set up properly by going back to the User Profile and you should see your device registered.
-
Once set up, you will be able to log in via Passkeys on the subscription's login page.
Setup / maintenance notes:
- Available only on the new login page for enabled subscriptions.
- Passkeys are URL-specific; changes to custom domains require re-registration.
Common failure points - what to do:
- Lost Passkey (No Password fallback): Follow account reset/identity-verification protocols to restore access. You can reset your password via the Forgot Password link on the login page or reach out to support@titanfile.com for assistance.
- Lockouts: Failed passkey attempts count toward lockouts, please reset your account password via the Forgot Password link on the login to unlock your account.
- Missing/Broken: Confirm subscription status and login page version. Re-register if the domain has changed.
- Removal: Users can remove passkeys from their User Profile page.
